The Venue

New for 2011 The Venue is the ideal location for your next event. Whether you’re planning a wedding, an awards dinner, a conference or a special birthday, our dedicated events team are on hand to help tailor your event to your exact needs.

Using only the best locally sourced produce ensures that all of the meals served are as fresh as they can be and made from the highest quality ingredients.

Serving a wide range of real ales and selection of fine wines by the bottle and the glass the bar area is a great place to unwind and relax after a busy day out at one of the towns monthly markets. Take coffee in the contemporary, unfussy lounge seating area with friends whilst perusing the excellent selection of exotic meats and specials available in the restaurant.

The majority of our beef is farmed in Staffordshire other than our Ribeye which comes from Ireland all our beef is 28 day dry aged and farm assured. Our Buffalo and Ostrich are farmed in Derbyshire.

Chef is so confident in the quality of his meat that the kitchen regularly offers visitors to the towns monthly farmers market the opportunity to taste the food, particularly the exotic meats including Buffalo and Ostrich. Always a hit with the locals!

Over the past 10 years, the Cullen’s have built an excellent reputation for fine food, affordable prices and excellent service. Widely known for outstanding value for money lunch time offers, The Pullman Carriages at The Spotgate make for an opulent and intriguing dining experience.

The cosy snug bar with real fire serving local real ales and a selection of fine wines is perfect for those looking for a quiet, relaxing drink or bar snack. There is also a private dining room, which is available for private hire and can accommodate dinner parties of up to 30 people.

Happily it’s not just the food that is local at this great value eatery, the real ale too is local where possible and there is also an excellent selection of fine wines to suit all tastes. The well stocked bar offers something for everyone, including the children and those in the driving seat.

Booking a table at the Saracens Head in Weston is always advisable, particularly on a Sunday. The Sunday Roast is a house specialty with a choice of Aberdeen Angus Beef or Turkey which comes with all the trimmings, a good lashing of gravy and the Chef’s homemade Yorkshire puddings.

This superb family pub has an excellent beer garden and benches, and with the nearby Trent and Mersey Canal, summer evenings at the Saracens Head are a real treat for the whole family. The main building is set back off the A518 Stafford Road allowing for a good sized car park at the front of the pub and easy access for all visitors.

This traditional country inn can be found in the delightful rural village of Burston, set well back from the A51 south east of Stone its reputation for quality home cooked food brings patrons from all over Staffordshire. This family run pub has a spacious beer garden with farm animals situated to the back; ideal for entertaining children.

There is an extensive menu to choose from as well as an additional specials board, which changes daily. The Jordan’s source some of their produce from local suppliers and always strive to find the freshest ingredients at all times. The food choice is impressive from traditional English favourites to more exotic cuisine types, such as Thai style curries and Asian flavours. The homemade desserts are extremely tempting with favourites including lemon meringue pie and New York cheese cake for your enjoyment. Food is served Monday – Saturday between 12pm – 2.30pm and 6pm – 9pm. On a Sunday food is served 12pm – 9pm (roast dinners are in addition to the main menu); due to its popularity at weekends it is advisable to book to avoid disappointment. Three real ales can be enjoyed at The Greyhound Inn with Burton Ale the regular and the other two rotating guest ales (using local Micro Breweries if possible), for example, the ever popular supplier of restaurants in Stone, Lymestone Brewery. There is also a good selection of beers, wines and spirits to suit all diners’ needs.

Bistro Le Coq is situated in the Staffordshire village of Stowe by Chartley, seven miles from the county town of Stafford. The Cock Inn is believed to date from the 15th Century, and has been established as a local hostelry for many years.

In 2003, it changed hands, and as the new owners, we set about creating a new dining concept for this village pub.

Confirmed Francophiles, we decided to create “a little taste of France in a country Inn”, and so, ‘Bistro Le Coq’ came into existence. With the help of a French Chef, Bertrand Le Clercq, we tried to create a range of classic French Bistro menus, which incorporate many southern French specialities not found elsewhere, either locally or nationally.

Alongside the pretty Bistro dining room is a small bar where both diners and locals can enjoy a drink or a cup of Coffee. True to its roots as a village pub, a range of traditional hand pulled cask ales are offered, together with draught and bottled continental lagers. In the winter, on cold nights, drinkers and diners can enjoy the pleasures of a warming real fire in the large fireplace. As well as great food, an excellent wine list is offered with a good range of French, European and New World wines.

Whatever your choice in food, you will receive a warm welcome from our friendly staff.

No expense has been spared on interior design which makes the Roshni a destination restaurant for many throughout Staffordshire. Situated on the A521 Cheadle Road, the Roshni Restaurant is within easy reach of many surrounding towns and villages, including the ever popular Meir Park. The George’s menu is available in both its 60 seater dining room with its own log burning fire, and the large bar area. The menu is complimented by the ever changing specials board and has a dedicated children’s menu for the younger but nonetheless important clientele. A bar is different things to different people and the George has ample space to accommodate everyone’s individual needs. A large inglenook fireplace dominates one wall and the comfy lounge is ideal for a quiet drink over coffee. With 6 real ales on tap 5 from our own brewery now based in Stafford and one from an ever changing guest ale the George is a real ale oasis. Four lagers on tap and a wide array of bottled beer and ciders from around the World with a wine list that includes many wines not only available by the bottle but the glass to and it is clear why the George is a popular meeting place.

The Lord Nelson is set right in the heart of Oakamoor which itself is situated within the picturesque Churnet Valley. We are also located very close to Alton Towers theme park so what better place to come in and have a drink on the way back. The pub is a traditional family run business offering everyone a very warm welcome from tourists and travellers through to the locals from within the village itself.

Our pub offers real ales, hot and cold drinks, traditional cooking along with a very cosy and friendly environment. Oakamoor village is set in the heart of some of the most beautiful scenary within the midlands which is known as the Churnet Valley.The pub itself was originally used as a surgery but over the years it has served as a pub. There are two bars within the pub, the first main bar is located at the top end of the pub. This is a traditional family style area where it has a very cosy and friendly atmosphere. There is a dart board, traditional fire place and televison at this top bar. Dogs are also welcome.

The Bistro at Aston Marina serves contemporary British cuisine in a beautiful waterside setting. Uniquely, the Bistro benefits from Aston Marina’s own farm shop & traditional butchery literally next door! The menus focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, with everything prepared fresh. All meat is free range with some beef and pork home-reared on the farm nearby, and the rest locally sourced from assured farms.

The drinks on offer are of parallel quality, such as award winning single estate coffees, locally brewed ales, beers and ciders, new and old world wines from small, independent family vineyards, as well as a range of sophisticated liqueurs.

Guests have the choice of dining in the stylish bistro, on the timber decking over the water, or in their unique heated & lit Cedar Houses overlooking the marina.

Our Food
Our chefs work hard to create contemporary British dishes based on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. We know that having healthy diet doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy what you’re eating, and the food that tastes the best has travelled the least distance. The secret to our food is in using fresh local ingredients, sympathetically prepared by our award winning chefs.

All of our food is prepared fresh; we do not buy in anything other than raw ingredients. All of our meat is free range and supplied by our friendly butcher Nick and his team next door in the Farm Shop, ensuring the highest standards of welfare and guaranteeing fabulous taste. We grow as much of our won fruit, vegetables & herbs as we can here at the Marina, all lovingly tended by our grower Julia.

What we can’t produce ourselves we source as locally as possible, with quality being the most important factor. Wherever we can we avoid air freighted goods. All of our fish and seafood is sustainably sourced and we try to introduce our customers to great tasting alternatives to traditional stocks which are in decline.

Owned independently by a local Newcastle couple, Rare, has recently opened its doors to the public, set in the old “ Rectory Chambers ” a building unique in character that dates back to the mid 18th century.
