Take a chance, and try dining out somewhere contemporary and modern: Try dining out at The Roshni Restaurant, Forsbrook.
Recently refurbished, the new ‘Roshni’ image is funky, dazzling and in-keeping with an ‘Arabian Nights’ theme, oozing with an Indian essence to create a unique cultural mood. At a glance, the restaurant is slightly over-crowded – which, in part is due to the clumsy furniture layout. It is pretty fair to say, that if you didn’t know your neighbouring table – on an intimate level – before your meal, then, you are sure to do so after your meal. Enough said!
The ‘cramped’ sensation soon wears off, and you are left with a wonderful ambience, created by the cultural music, the hard-working staff, the romantic lighting and the divine food. The place exuberates with romance and dining rendezvous.
Choosing a Mixed Kebab to share – as an Appetizer – was a pleasing experience. Priced at £5.50 the Kebab was delicately assembled with tender, succulent meats – which were just waiting to be devoured and enjoyed. The presentation was simple, yet impressive, the herb garnish was un-necessary as this dish spoke for itself. Overall, the Appetizer exceeded expectations………..highly recommended, I would devour it again for sure!
Served hot and spicy, arrived the Lamb Balti. Cooked and served in a cast iron wok, the aromatic spices of Kashmir emanated from the Balti as it sizzled and bubbled merrily away: the smell was one of an ambrosia dish to be; And that it was indeed! The Lamb Balti was priced at £6.95, ordered to accompany the Balti was a Mushroom Pilau Rice and a Keema Nan. The Pilau Rice wasn’t as authentic as the Balti dish and the Kemma Nan was rather doughy in consistency. The sundries were priced at £1.85 for the Nan and £2.10 for the Pilau Rice. Overall, the food order totalled a modest £16.40.
To add, the service staff were enthusiastic and friendly – without being overpowering and intrusive with an up-sale. The waiter recommended a Riesling White to compliment the Balti dish. The wine contained a good depth of crisp fruits and left the palette refreshed and clean. A good recommendation from a knowledgeable waiter.
So, If you fancy a scrumptious curry, combined with affordability and a romantic aura then, The Roshni is the one for you.
