The Olive Tree Tapas Restaurant, Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire
Situated in the picturesque market town of Cheadle in the Staffordshire Moorlands – welcome to The Olive Tree Mediterranean Tapas Restaurant and Coffee Bar.
The word ‘tapas’ is synonymous with Spanish cuisine. Tapas is a plural term, Tapa is not a type of food, but a way of eating it. Tapa means ‘lid’ or ‘cover’ in Spanish and there are a number of explanations for the origins of tapas. Tapa is not a particular type of food. Anything can be tapas – paella, meatballs, air dried meats, breads, cheeses are just some examples – truly anything can be described as tapas providing it is small and served with a drink. Tapas – it doesn’t even have to be Spanish!
Our favourite story concerns a sick king who recovered from his illness by drinking wine and nibbling small dishes. After regaining his health, the king issued a royal decree that insisted that food should always be served to guests with drinks.
Whether it is your first experience of tapas or you are a true devotee, The Olive Tree offers a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere combined with attentive yet discreet service. The menu has wide selection of tasty tapas and mains from locally sourced ingredients where possible.
For an even more intimate experience why not book one of cellar tables. We can seat up to eight people in your own private haven and provide you with a memorable Mediterranean evening in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands.

I lived in Barcelona for 18 months and this restaurant has the best tasting tapas I’ve tasted since! I love it. The patatas bravas and gambas are amazing – fresh and spicy. Yum. Highly recommended.
