With traditional wood beams, low ceilings and antique furniture take a step back in time at Ye Olde Star Inn. Fortunately the kitchen is straight out of the 21st century, serving contemporary English food to a high standard. The chef takes pride in offering a selection of daily specials all freshly made from locally sourced produce. The home from home feel of the bar area continues with a pair of log burning stoves bringing warmth to the experience.
As well as a fine selection of draught beers, lagers, ciders and stouts, plus wines, spirits and soft drinks, the free house features Fuller’s London Pride (4.1% ABV, smooth and rounded, with excellent balance, boasting a strong, malty base and a rich balance of well-developed hop-flavours and powerful bitterness) as its regular ‘real ale’.
Located just one mile from famous Alton Towers theme park, this East Staffordshire free house offers all the ‘olde worlde’ atmosphere of an historic, country inn with the ultra-modern concepts of value-for-money, high standards of service and a warm, friendly welcome!
Open from 12 noon to 11pm (Monday-Saturday) and 12 noon to 10.30pm (Sunday), Ye Olde Star Inn enjoys an enviable reputation for cask-conditioned beers, but it is home-made food made with locally-sourced ingredients, with nothing ‘bought in’ that keeps visitors coming back.
Themed evenings such as ‘Tuesday Steak Night’, ‘Friday Fish Night’ and ‘Lunchtime Specials are excellent value and are very popular with regulars.
Food is served seven days a week, 12 noon-2.30pm, and 5-9.30pm, Monday-Saturday, and 12 noon-8pm on Sunday.
‘Lunchtime Specials’ offered from Monday to Friday, are priced at £6.95 and a three-course for £8.95.
A traditional Sunday lunch served with all the trimmings available all day, as two-courses is just £8.95, whilst a three-course meal costs just £10.95.
‘Tuesday Steak Night’ means an 8oz, locally-sourced sirloin steak, served with home-made chips and peas, plus a drink (pint of beer, small glass of wine and or a soft drink) for just £5!
‘Friday Fish Night’, featuring fresh fish, chips and a drink (as above) for the same amount – a mere ‘fiver’!
